Current Situation

MetService advises strong winds and heavy rain for the Auckland region. The worst period of wind and rain is expected tomorrow morning (Thursday 17 April) between 5am and 1pm.

It is a good time to check your emergency survival kit and update your household emergency plans.

Make sure your battery-powered torches and radios are working and check the expiry dates on all food in your emergency survival kit.

- Stay up-to-date with weather forecasts over the next 24 hours
- Aucklanders are advised to exercise caution due to the possibility of surface flooding.
- Drive to the conditions
- Check your drains and spouting and make sure they are clear of blockages
- Pick up debris around your house that could become airborne
- Check on your next door neighbours
